Getting started

What is CarLog?

CarLog is a car and fuel tracker for Android. You log each refueling — liters, price and odometer — and CarLog shows your real fuel consumption, your fuel costs and how they change over time.

Do I need an account?

No. CarLog works without an account or sign-in. You set up your car and start logging right away.

What do I need to set up?

On first launch you choose a language and then enter your car: brand, model, an optional year, the fuel or energy type, the current odometer, kilometres or miles, and your currency.

Fuel tracking

How do I track fuel consumption?

Each time you refuel, tap “Add refueling” and enter the liters, the price per liter and the odometer reading. CarLog calculates the total for you and fills in the date, the odometer and your last price to save time.

After two refuelings of the same fuel, CarLog shows your average consumption. For the most accurate figure, fill the tank completely and keep the “Full tank” switch on.

What if I don’t fill the tank completely?

Turn off “Full tank” for that fuel. CarLog still records the refueling and includes it in your costs. Consumption values based on partial fills are marked as estimates.

Can I review previous refueling records?

Yes. History lists every refueling grouped by month, with the amount, cost, odometer and consumption. Tap a record to edit it; deleting a record asks for confirmation first.

Fuel types

Can I track gasoline and LPG?

Yes. Petrol (gasoline) and LPG cars can record both fuels. If you buy both at the same stop, add them to the same refueling — each fuel keeps its own liters, price and “Full tank” switch, and consumption is calculated separately for each fuel.

What about diesel, hybrid and electric cars?

Diesel cars are supported. Hybrids can log fuel in liters and electricity in kWh, which are reported separately. Electric cars record charging in kWh.

Statistics

Which statistics does CarLog show?

For the current week, month or year: distance driven, fuel used, average consumption, total spent, cost per kilometre (or mile) and the number of refuelings — plus a consumption-over-time chart.

Explore statistics

Why do I see “Not enough data”?

Consumption needs at least two refuelings of the same fuel with increasing odometer readings. CarLog shows “Not enough data” rather than an invented number until then.

Widgets

Does CarLog support home-screen widgets?

Yes. CarLog offers a small and a medium home-screen widget showing your consumption, odometer and this month’s fuel cost. The medium widget includes a Refuel button that opens “Add refueling”.

To add one, touch and hold an empty area of your home screen, tap Widgets, find CarLog and drag a widget into place. On supported launchers the app can also offer to place it for you.

Data and privacy

What information does CarLog collect?

The current version of the app does not send your car or refueling data to the developer or to any server. Your records are stored in a database on your device, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking tools.

Read the Privacy Policy

Can I export or delete my data?

Yes. In Settings you can export your records as CSV or JSON, and permanently delete all data with “Reset local data”. Uninstalling the app also removes its data from the device.

Is my data synced between devices?

No. The current version has no cloud sync. If you move to a new phone, export your data first; Android’s own device backup may also restore app data, depending on your phone’s backup settings.
